Isaac Simerly serves as the treasurer for Centurion's Purse and is a submariner Lieutenant in the Navy Reserves in CITY, VA. He has enjoyed his experiences while in the military and his faith calls him to support our fellow service members and their families in our lifelong journey of spiritual development. Isaac understands that for some, their spiritual growth may strain their relationship with the military, while others may find meaning and purpose in serving along with their military family. His objective is to stimulate that growth.

Julia Smith is the fiance, daughter, and granddaughter of Naval Officers who served in the Fleet during their youth, then returned home to their families. Since her teens, Julia has been engaged in the fight by taking part in programs and pursuing careers that seek social justice for the poor and marginalized. Human Needs, Global Resources (HNGR) sent her to a Bolivian rape crisis center while Central Union Mission on 14th St in DC has put her in the middle of the battle between development and gentrification for the last four years. Fluent in Spanish, Julia lives in a Christian Community in a Hispanic neighborhood in Northern Virginia where the art of personal relationships and humbleness are learned daily.

Robb Hoover acts as the administrative expert for Centurion's Purse and has been talking with military recruiters and military recruits since he was 16. Sometimes it's been involuntarily (thanks to high school enrollment lists being offered to the armed services), but over the past few years, it's been something he has pursued more actively. Through Centurion's Purse, Robb hopes to support soldiers wrestling with the challenges of faith, duty, and conscience; to absorb the example of Jesus, the outside agitator from Palestine who saw the humanity in those who would eventually execute him. He hopes to be impressed. Robb's preferred method of social networking is through the U.S. Postal Service.

Shane Claiborne serves in an advisory position for Centurion's Purse and is an author, activist, and recovering sinner—a Tennessee hillbilly with a love for Bluegrass. He is a founder of The Simple Way and a long-term partner in the Potter Street Community, an intentional community in Kensington, Philadelphia. Shane is a board member of the Christian Community Development Association and has helped birth and connect radical faith communities and intentional hospitality houses. He's written some books including The Irresistible Revolution and Jesus for President (with Chris Haw). He's also a little rusty on his circus skills but has been known to do a little juggling and fire breathing on occasion.
